The Rubble in the Jungle

Congo (DRC) - Southern Autumn/2014

Stage of the most spectacular boxing fight in history, the Tata Raphael stadium carries few memories of that damp, warm night in November 1974 when Muhhamad Ali and Geroge Foreman met in the heart of Africa. In disrepair like almost everything in the Democratic Republic of Congo these days, the Tata Raphel, became much more than a simple stadium. Although the historic fight took place more than four decades ago, the decrepit stadium attracts every day dozens of young Congoleses looking for inspiration. For most of them, a special energy is stored there.
