Two years after

North Africa and the Levante, Northern Winter/2013

By the begining of 2013, the Arab world had already realized that the dreams ascended from Arab Spring had perished along the wave of promises, expectations and violence that have taken over much of Northern Africa and the Levant. Refugees left Syria by the thousands, fleeing the bloody fratricidal war, while Tunisians and Egyptians saw the rise of Enahda and the Muslim Brotherhood as an enormous nightmare and, in Palestine, everything remained sadly the same. The photos in this essay were taken in the late winter of 2013 and were an attempt to figure out what all these countries had become two years after the start of the Arab Spring.
