Brazil, southern summer/2012

Brazil is known for its amazing rainforests, pristine beaches and for having one of the most diverse faunas in the world. The country, however, keeps one of the largest and most populated semi-deserts of the planet. Known as Sertão, it spreads by 1 million square meters throughout nine states. More than 15 million people live in the Northeast Sertão. The photos in this essay are from December 2012, when the region suffered its worst drought in 30 years.
